Rainbow Felted Butterfly Wings

Website: Rainbow Felted Butterfly Wings
This group was birthed from the desire for something different.  In a sea of common core, religious education, and the general push for early childhood academics, many families felt they were islands in this beautiful valley of the antelopes.  In searching for an alternative for the education of their children, some of these "islands" discovered the beautiful perspective of the kingdom of childhood as first articulated by Rudolf Steiner.  By some force greater than ourselves, we were drawn together and found something rare in this fast-paced, autonomous, modern society... a tribe.

Sometimes the events get lost in the shuffle, so Michelle created this group. Anyone can post the cool place they found or the field trip they would like to take. You may even put feelers out to see if anyone is interested in going to a place before you book a tour. If you have an event you would like to coordinate, such as a field trip, post it here! Special events (museum free days, special exhibits, community events) that may be of interest to homeschooling families may also be posted. If you have a special event or field trip that you would like to announce to other homeschooling families in the area, please post it here!

We are Christian parents of children with developmental, physical and educational disabilities. Locally we are members of Christian Family Schools of San Diego. Nationally, we are members of NATHHAN. Our Purpose: We meet every other month throughout the year, for the purpose of prayer, fellowship, and sharing information/resources. We seek to encourage one another during times of sorrow, discouragement and crises; and to rejoice with thanksgiving to God, over answered prayers and victories, big and little in the lives of our families. We collectively share resource information and education regarding alternatives to government programs and school district services regarding physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and curriculum choices.

The mission of this ministry is two-fold:  (1) To provide parents with encouragement, exhortation for excellence and information about homeschooling with a Christ-centered, parent-directed focus. (2) To provide our families with educational and social opportunities to supplement their home studies. We are a support group and not a school. This means that we work together to provide activities for our children and to encourage one another. Our purpose isn't to provide everything that children may be "missing out on" by not going to a public school. Our activities, classes and field trips are all chosen or designed with our mission statement in mind.
